Our Philosophy…
Our goal is to provide a service for our local community that not only builds confident, happy and empowered swimmers but also saves lives and lowers New Zealand's drowning rates.
Our business is community oriented, learner prioritised, educationally driven and strives to extend the abilities of our swimmers in a playful and happy environment.
Swim Mangawhai believe in the importance of life-long learning and aim to support the local community to enhance their well-being and to nurture growth and development. Personal care, competency, confidence and safety in, under and around water is paramount not only for New Zealand people but particularly for our community due to the proximity of magical Mangawhai to the sea.
We strive to nurture resilience and empower people to take responsibility for their presence and abilities in, under and around the water.
We support the key messages taught and delivered by Swimming New Zealand and the Mangawhai Heads Surf Life Saving Club and look forward to working with them both to extend the services we are able to offer our community.
We prioritise the importance of making our services fun and playful while ensuring that key learning progressions, set educational targets and developmental milestones are met. Swim Mangawhai embraces and utilises the heavily researched and scientific findings of neuroscience and neuroscientists such as New Zealand's own, Nathan Wallis. The concepts of child-led free play are very much evident in our programmes at key ages and developmental stages.
Accompanied with activities, equipment and instructor expertise, this fine programme balance stimulates child inquiry, problem solving, leadership skills and a sense of self.
