School Aged Group Swimming Lessons
Swim Mangawhai believe that within our swimming levels, the learning programme must be dictated by a combination of age and personal attributes.
At the age of five, children are developing their emotional attitude towards themselves as a learner and therefore prioritise the importance of play and enjoyment of the water. With this in mind, accompanied by our philosophy of ‘practice makes permanent’ we strive to deliver a programme that embraces fundamental water survival and safety skills, stroke skills and ‘challenge by choice’ that young people crave.
By roughly seven years of age and older, children are engaging more with their frontal cortex and the brain enjoys more repetitive patterns associated with learning. Our programme nurtures these developmental milestones by repetitively focusing on correct swimming technique and progressions, extended water safety and survival skills as well as positive, individualised and specific instructor feedback.
Your child will enter into one of four levels offered.
For children new to Swim Mangawhai we require a free five minute swim assessment to gauge your child's level of confidence and ability.
